I am very proud to share a great honor I received. Retiring from an illustrious career at The Joint (JDC), my good friend and fundraising colleague Solly Kaplinski, authored a book last year, entitled “Journeys into the Gentle Heart” – focusing on philanthropy and Jewish philanthropists, especially donor narratives and what motivates their generosity, The follow up book this year, just published: “Journeys into the Gentle Heart: The Fundraisers” – asked 50 Jewish fundraisers in Israel and overseas, to each write a chapter. The book focus on fundraisers, their insights and the “secret sauce” of their fundraising success. I was indeed honored to be asked to write a chapter – alongside many well known and respected funding professionals. Yesterday, I attended the launch of the new book at The Joint in Jerusalem.  It was a most special event – especially in these difficult times, when so much of our fundraising is focused on post October 7th issues and Tekuma. There was also personal Nachat for me – causing me to look back with great pride at 40 years of experience and achievement in nonprofit management and fundraising. Funding was obtained to print 500 hard back copies of the book - all of which will be given away.  The book will also be available free online – and I’m happy to share the link here: https://lnkd.in/daj2pNDP (If you download the PDF you get straight to the Fundraisers Book – if you prefer the Flip Book option – jump to page 125 for the Fundraisers Book). The texts are accompanied by outstanding photography by Rebecca Kowalsky – a fine art and documentary photographer. Solly will not be receiving any monies nor royalties. I hope you enjoy reading the book.
