Julia Wang doesn't just want to understand how something works; she wants to understand why it came to be. That instinct shapes everything she does. At David AI, Julia is on our Product & Operations team, where she’s currently building new and experimental datasets. Her work is equal parts creative and analytical: imagine a behavior you want a model to have, then design the data to make it happen – a rare intersection of product thinking and technical craft she's been drawn to for a while. During her studies at Stanford, Julia worked on computer vision research for medical imaging. What excited her wasn't just building a model that performed well, but making sure its outputs actually made sense to a doctor standing in front of a patient. What should the model look at? What should it surface? How does this translate into a real decision? From there, she spent time in VC at Floodgate, thinking about what makes companies and products worth building. At David AI, one of Julia’s favorite parts of the day is designing the shape of data to influence how voice models respond. She enjoys thinking deeply about how small changes in conversation dynamics can shift a model’s behavior. Outside of work, Julia fills her life with things she genuinely loves: soccer, skiing, backpacking, running, and teaching people how to waterski. She figures out what she's willing to dedicate herself to, then throws her full self in.
