Performance management matters for stakeholders both inside and outside the organization. Though significant, performance management often fails to live up to its purposes. In this article, I suggest managing four timeless steps in the performance management process to improve learning and development for individuals and organizations that leads to value for all stakeholders. While there is much to be done in this area, I hope the four steps shared here offer insights to improve this important process. I appreciate Otti Vogt for his insights in shaping these ideas.
