Denmark to stop EU funding for federations that allow Russian athletes. The EU must not allow sports federations that allow Russian athletes to receive EU funding, says letter - It is absurd that a Russian can have a gold medal around his neck, while bombs are raining down on Ukraine. It is unbearable. If sports federations allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in international competitions, the federation should not be able to receive EU funding. That is the message in a letter that Denmark and eight other EU countries have sent to the EU's Sports Commissioner, Glenn Micallef.
