Ban the Drum Machine! 🎵 Every generation has its musical revolution because technology has always expanded the possibilities of creative genius, not the other way around. It is almost unthinkable that in the 1980s the UK Musicians' Union called for synthesisers and drum machines to be banned, arguing they were putting the very heart of music out of business. Today, those same instruments sit at the heart of modern music and rhythm. AI may well prove to be this generation's drum machine moment. The BBC's new AI music policy is a timely reminder that technology will continue to reshape the creative process.
