Memphis is definitely entering a new era. With the recent approval of the new TIF district, Cleveland Street is continuing its growth. It’s stepping into the spotlight. What was once overlooked now has the potential to become a living blueprint of what Memphis can be. Creative, collaborative, and community-driven. I see more than buildings or budgets. I see potential. I see legacy. This corridor could become a home for local artists to showcase their work, entrepreneurs to launch bold ideas, and tech innovators to build things that feel like Memphis but push us forward. I’m personally excited about the Satellite Music Hall venue being developed at the corner of Autumn Ave and N Claybrook St, across from the Crosstown Concourse parking garage. As I always iterate, It’s not about copying another city’s success story. It’s about writing our own. Culture and commerce can coexist. Public investment and grassroots creativity can rise together. And when that happens, we build more than a district. We build a future. Cleveland Street could be a symbol of what happens when we believe in our neighborhoods and back them with real resources. The idea of repurposing the old Sears building into what we now know as the Crosstown Concourse, created an awakening for an entire community. One idea can truly transform our city, “piece by piece.” Let’s imagine it, fund it, build it, and live it. Because when Memphis wins, we all do.
