Day 181 of posting until I land a job in sport! ⚽🌍 A reminder that the biggest sports marketing moments are not always planned. Yesterday, Cape Verde’s 40 year old goalkeeper became a national hero 🇨🇻🧤 after helping secure a 0-0 draw against Spain in his country’s first ever FIFA World Cup match. Within 24 hours, his Instagram following reportedly grew from 5,000 to 6.2 million 📈🔥 Think about that. ⚽ One performance. 📖 One story. 🌎 One moment. Fans did not just fall in love with the saves. They connected with the journey, the underdog story and the pride of seeing a nation make history❤️ Sport has always been about emotion so seeing a 40 year old underdog compete with the likes of Pedri and Yamal to win match of the match was generational. Social media simply makes those emotions travel faster than ever before 🚀 This is why storytelling remains one of the most powerful assets in sports marketing. A 0-0 draw just created one of the biggest personal branding moments of the tournament. 👏 What’s the biggest overnight rise you’ve seen in sport? 🤔 I think this has got to be the biggest I’ve ever seen… #SportsMarketing #SportsBusiness #WorldCup #Football #FanEngagement #Storytelling #SocialMediaMarketing #PersonalBranding #SportsIndustry ⚽📱🌍
