I've had this idea at the back of my head for a little while now, and think it's about time I started doing something with it. One of the biggest challenges I've experienced when trying to get people to buy in to accessibility is the misconception that accessible = ugly. This can be quite a tricky challenge to counter, as I don't have a list of beautiful, accessible websites to hand. When I first started out in design, I used to love trawling through websites that celebrated great web design - however, looking back, these sites were pretty much exclusively chosen for their aesthetics. Wouldn't it be awesome if there was somewhere that celebrated beautiful accessible websites? Somewhere that was really giving recognition to those who are challenging the myths, being bold, and proving accessibility and aesthetics aren't mutually exclusive? I don't have the headspace/bandwidth/ability to do it all on my own, but I think a team of us could bring this to life. If you're interested in getting involved, can you drop me a note? #accessibility #a11y
