💡From whispered discussions to collective action: how do we move beyond reacting to crises and start anticipating them? ‘We ended up in a camp where I spent close to 30 years of my life. If anticipatory action had occurred, my parents could have thought of a safer place to move.’ This testimony is a powerful reminder of what is at stake when early signals are missed. It reinforces what anticipatory action really means, showing how earlier decisions can change the course of displacement. We have captured the key reflections from the 2nd AHEAD Learning Series in Nairobi, where Somali diaspora organizations and local partners came together to discuss how displacement can be addressed before it escalates. Through mapping exercises, shared experiences, and honest dialogue, participants explored how to turn early warning signals and community knowledge into coordinated, anticipatory responses.
