Three years of conflict in Sudan have driven one of the world’s most severe humanitarian crises, and civilians continue to bear the brunt. Across the country, violence, repeated displacement and the collapse of basic services have left millions exposed to ongoing protection risks. Families are forced to make impossible choices: remain in unsafe areas with limited access to essentials, or flee along dangerous routes in search of safety. In Darfur, Kordofan, and beyond, reports of attacks on civilians, widespread violence, and severe access constraints highlight a crisis that continues to deepen. Displacement sites are overcrowded, and humanitarian assistance is not reaching all those in need. This is a prolonged and compounding protection crisis. It is not inevitable. As Sudan enters its fourth year of conflict, urgent and sustained action is needed to protect civilians, ensure safe and unhindered humanitarian access, and scale up support to those most affected.
