Join us and our partners DIIS - Dansk Institut for Internationale Studier for a report launch and seminar that explores the patterns of sexual violence along the Central Mediterranean migration route, how it affects the lives of refugees and other migrants and the challenges and possibilities to address this issue from a humanitarian and legal perspective. When and where: June 8, 15.00 - 16.45 at Røde Kors HQ on Blegdamsvej 27, Copenhagen Ø. The Central Mediterranean migration route is considered one of the deadliest migration routes, with at least 26,690 deaths and disappearances since 2014. The route is also well known for the brutality endured by those who undertake it and its high level of violence. In particular, numerous testimonies provide evidence of the prevalence and ubiquity of sexual violence on this route. Although these abuses are well documented, it has not emerged as a political priority; humanitarian responses in the countries along this route remain limited, and the perpetrators of this violence have not yet been brought to justice. The project, published now after a year of research, is a collaboration between DIIS - Dansk Institut for Internationale Studier and Røde Kors. Participation is free but registration is required via the below link 👇
