I’m super happy to share that our latest work is out in Nature Magazine 🧠🪰 https://rdcu.be/eRWuD We explored how ecological niche adaptations in feeding arise across species. Applying the pan-neuronal volumetric brain imaging approach 🔬 I developed in Carlos' lab, we applied it across three Drosophila species and found that central sensory processing, rather than peripheral taste sensors, drives these adaptations. It’s fascinating to see how evolution can rewire downstream brain circuits to shape feeding behavior beyond changes in the sensory periphery. A major collaborative effort with Thomas Auer and his team, spearheaded by Enrico Bertolini. #Neuroscience #Evolution #Drosophila #BrainImaging #Behavior #ComparativeNeuro
