"Thought leader" is the most overused, under-earned title on LinkedIn. Hot take: if you have to put it in your bio, you probably aren't one. Authority is not a label you assign yourself. It's a transfer. And the transfer only happens when other people start carrying your name into rooms you're not in. → When a stranger DMs you saying, "your name came up on a call yesterday..." → When a podcast host books you because three previous guests said you'd be a fit. → When a journalist quotes you in a piece you didn't pitch. Those are receipts. That's the actual job. Posting seven days a week on LinkedIn isn't going to get you there. The platform is a megaphone. It's not a credential. I wrote a full breakdown in this week's newsletter, including the 30-day audit I run with my clients to figure out if they've actually crossed the line from creator to authority. (Most haven't. That's the uncomfortable part.)
