#Epochenbruch - enforcing a new dimension of competition rules. We must cast aside naivety and address - and in some cases denounce - the unfair economic practices of key trading partners around the world. We Europeans are increasingly seeing ourselves as a geostrategic actor. Using geoeconomic instruments - soft power tools - is a serious response to the growing distortions of competition outside the EU. But the EU itself must also do its part: it must finally unleash the European single market, reduce bureaucracy, and ensure greater harmonization of standards. The European Machinery and plant Equipment industry is taking competition, competition rules and geoeconomics seriously. We are still the biggest and strongest tech industry in Europe and willing the shape and enable a better future - tech matters, but also rules matter. More to come…
