Our paper "An analysis of functional relationships between systemic conditions and unethical behavior in German academia" has just been published in Meta-Psychology: https://lnkd.in/dRcVR5A4 The paper reflects an intense, joint effort by the members of a commission that was appointed by the 2021 executive board of the DGPs (German Psychological Society). The commission's task was to identify key factors in the academic system that permit or even encourage unethical behavior, and to propose countermeasures. In my view, we were rather successful at that. To this day, I draw heavily on what I learned in the course of this process when I give talks on anything related to incentives and power abuse in academia, as well as scientific misconduct. I would once again express my gratitude to the other seven members of the commission for their contributions (Nicole Boessel-Debbert, Dorothee Mischkowski, Annette Kluge, Le Vy Phan, Franz Richter, Manfred Schmitt, Jutta Stahl), and to the two previous DGPs executive boards for the trust that they bestowed in us. The commission's work is also featured in this Nature article: https://lnkd.in/dFD9TRWJ
