Grief & nostalgia Once upon a time I was the singer in a UK Indie band (Ooberman) with a bit of minor success (one song in the 'top 40' - number 39!). See 1999 pic - me at the front before time weathered me. This year we decided to try to record a new album for the first time in 20 years, partly nostalgia, but also a chance to update our sound with everything I've learned as a composer since then, and extend the emotional depth with everything that life's thrown at us! Here's a piano demo for the new album - "Force of Nature" (me singing & playing my Bechstein grand at the same time). https://lnkd.in/eGaCH9SU It's basically grief - about someone you love dying. Cheerful I know! Lyrics: I watched you go across the river Your spirit rose on woven heather We laughed at long gone days before the dawn ‘Til you’re sleeping face was there but you were gone, oh How could such a force of nature ever end? Through the tears I hear you whispering “we’ll meet again” Those endless times of joy we spent together Seasons passed us by like we had forever If only I could see you one more day These tears’ll dry but all this love can’t fade How could such a force of nature ever end? Through the tears I hear you whispering “we’ll meet again”
