Shared Expertise, Shared Future: Australia–China Cooperation in Disaster and Safety Education. I had the opportunity to deliver an in-depth workshop at Danford Higher Education for a distinguished delegation of senior academics from the Hunan Vocational Institute of Safety Technology. Their expertise—spanning principals, deans, professors, senior engineers and academic leaders—elevated the depth and quality of our discussions and made the session exceptionally meaningful. This workshop once again demonstrated the critical importance of strong cooperation between Australia and China, particularly in the areas of safety, disaster prevention and vocational education. Such partnerships enhance shared learning, broaden institutional capability, and contribute to ongoing global innovation. A powerful highlight of the workshop was the contribution of Mr Carlos Balmaceda, a survivor of the devastating Kinglake fires. His reflections on this catastrophic and tragic event provided participants with invaluable real-world insight into disaster impact, community resilience, and the human dimension of emergency management. I look forward to continuing this important collaboration and building even stronger educational ties with our colleagues in China. PROFESSOR ALEXIS ESPOSTO DEAN
