I am excited and humbled that Konstantin Klemmer, Nate Appelson, and Jeff Albrecht have joined LGND. Konstantin translates Earth for the rest of us. He is a Principal AI Research Engineer at LGND. He was previously a postdoc and ML researcher at Microsoft Research, where he was lead author of SatCLIP, a contrastive learning approach that generates general-purpose location embeddings from satellite imagery. Konstantin is also working on spatio-temporal models to make geospatial embeddings more dynamic and useful. If you need to convert satellite imagery into semantics, then Konstantin is your Babel fish. Nate builds big things on the computer. Not literally. That would crush the computer. He is a Database Engineer at LGND. He joins with deep experience building high-performance systems at scale, including work on data infrastructure at Google and Regrow, and simulation platforms for autonomous vehicles at Uber. He has led teams building large data ingestion pipelines on Kubernetes and serverless architecture. Jeff gets things done, at scale. He is the Principal Software Engineer at LGND. He was previously a Principal Software Engineer at Regrow and a Lead Data Engineer at Arturo, and an active contributor to the GeoZarr and STAC specs. If you leave any threads unresolved, Jeff will find them, pull them, and then recode a technicolor dreamcoat. The combination of infrastructure, search algorithms, and UI/UX talent is key, we think, to unlocking the potential of existing EO models. These people join a team that is uniquely skilled and positioned to deliver.
