✨Excited to share my experience at the NUS CHS Case Competition 2025!✨ The case problem we tackled was a pressing one: “Despite extensive public education, scam losses in Singapore continue to rise. How can we design an innovative solution to complement existing scam prevention measures?” Our team, SmartyBean, proposed a campaign called “No Gap, No Trap”, aimed at closing the gap between scam awareness and concrete action. Our four-pronged solution included: 🔹 Education – posters and platform security guidance 🔹 Direct Action – roadshows, app installations, scam-risk profile quizzes 🔹 Digital Guidance – in-app chatbot verification and scam-simulation learning 🔹 Community Engagement – #ProtectYourCircle and media storytelling Through this project, I learned so much about the fraud landscape in Singapore – particularly that adults aged 20–49 account for the majority of scam victims, with young adults most affected. It was eye-opening to see how emotional triggers like fear and urgency can override rational decision-making, even when people are aware of scams. Although we didn’t take home the prize, I’m grateful for the opportunity to dive deep into behavioural insights, digital security measures, and communication strategies. Most importantly, I walked away with a better understanding of how interdisciplinary approaches – combining tech, design thinking, and behavioural science – are needed to fight scams effectively. Do message me if you’d like to find out more about our approach and insights from the competition! Big thanks to my teammates, Zhenxin Cai, Clara Nai, Le Rui Tay and Min Min Chaw for the collaboration and to NUS CHS for hosting this competition! 🙌 #NUS #CaseCompetition #ScamPrevention #DigitalResilience
