With deep sorrow, we announce that Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jörg Eberspächer, TUM passed away on March 19, 2026.   Prof. Eberspächer served as a board member of the Information Technology Society (#ITG) in the #VDE from 1997 to 1999 and held the position of Chairman of the Board of the ITG from 2000 to 2002. As one of the leading figures in German for communication technology, he significantly shaped the development of modern network technologies through his research. His scientific work has profoundly influenced today’s communication technologies, including Next Generation Internet, #4G and #5G mobile networks, and the Internet of Things (IoT). With Prof. Eberspächer we lose a visionary scientist, a dedicated teacher, and a valued member of the ITG. Our deepest condolences go to his family.
