We’re proud to share that Island xwsaĺux̌ul, the seventh of ten Island Class vessels we’ve built for BC Ferries has arrived in British Columbia. The name xwsaĺux̌ul, meaning “the grassy place,” was gifted by the Snuneymuxw First Nation in the Hul’q’umi’num’ language. It carries deep cultural and historical significance, and we’re honoured to have built a vessel that carries this name. Designed for BC’s inter‑island routes, the vessel is battery‑equipped and diesel‑hybrid. It is ready for full electric operation as shore‑based charging infrastructure continues to develop a step forward for cleaner, quieter coastal ferry travel and the communities that rely on these connections every day. We’re proud to be part of this journey with BC Ferries. Congratulations to the BC Ferries team and to the Snuneymuxw First Nation on this important milestone. #SustainableFerries #IslandClass #Shipbuilding
