#DICPResearchNews A team led by Prof. LI Haiyang and Prof. HUA Lei developed a spatially confined Penning ionization source for highly sensitive photoionization mass spectrometry using a size- and position-adjustable baffle electrode. This strategy suppresses background ion interference to 0.2% and achieves limits of detection down to sub-pptv, even for molecules with ionization energies higher than the photon energy, offering new prospects for ultra-trace gas analysis.
