In 1896, Gottlieb Daimler invented the truck. The first bus, however, had already been invented a year earlier by Carl Benz. This year, we are celebrating 130 years of FORWARD, and we are including all our brands in the celebrations. Here is episode #11 of our anniversary FORWARD series: Connecting People. Past forward, in March 1895, the world’s first scheduled motorbus service connected the city of Siegen with the towns of Netphen and Deuz in Germany. Invented by Carl Benz and powered by a five‑horsepower combustion engine, it was more than a new vehicle: it introduced a new concept of mobility. By offering reliable, scheduled transportation that was accessible to the public, it challenged the transport model of its time and laid the foundation for modern public transport. With space for eight passengers, a wooden body and a simple interior, it marked the beginning of public motorized mobility in Germany. Fast forward to today, our Mercedes-Benz eCitaro with the NMC4 battery generation represents the next milestone in public transport. As a fully electric bus designed for modern urban networks, it combines long range, zero‑emission operation, and high energy efficiency. Advanced safety systems, digital connectivity, and a high level of passenger comfort ensure quiet, reliable, and sustainable mobility for everyday use. What once began as a pioneering route now continues as high‑tech, emission‑free public transport for cities and regions worldwide. 🔗 Learn more : https://lnkd.in/ehCscpHy #DaimlerTruck #130Forward | Daimler Buses GmbH
