Investing in prevention, preparedness, and risk-informed infrastructure is gaining recognition for delivering significant long-term benefits for people, economies, and development outcomes, even while disaster risk reduction remains underfunded globally. That was a clear message from the EU-funded 11th EDF Intra Africa, Caribbean, and Pacific (ACP) Disaster Risk Reduction Programme (DRRP) Steering Committee, Coordination Meeting, and Technical Working Group on Investing in Resilience, which DAI organized and facilitated in Brussels as the project’s Technical Assistance provider. Bringing together implementing partners and colleagues from OACPS Secretariat, DG INTPA, DG ECHO, and DG CLIMA, the meetings provided an opportunity to reflect on progress, share lessons learned, and shape priorities for the years ahead. Discussions also highlighted the DRRP’s growing contribution as a bridge between climate adaptation, disaster risk reduction, and resilient infrastructure investment, helping ACP countries transform risk information into concrete, investment-ready opportunities. As the project enters its next phase, the focus will be on accelerating implementation, strengthening partnerships, and ensuring that the knowledge, tools, and innovations developed through DRRP continue to inform policy, practice, and investment decisions across Africa, the Caribbean, and the Pacific.
