The Open Source Innovation Days 2026 brought together leading representatives from the logistics, IT, and open-source communities in Berlin in early July. The event focused on innovative approaches and collaborative solutions for the digital transformation of logistics. The official opening of the event, organized by the Open Logistics Foundation, was led by Stefan Hohm, Chief Development Officer (CDO) and member of the Executive Board at DACHSER, and @Prof. Michael Henke, Director of Fraunhofer IML, during which both once again explained the founding principles of Open Logistics. Freely accessible, open-source logistics applications that do not generate a true USP (commodities) enable companies to focus their limited IT resources on true value creation. Over the course of two days, industry experts discussed the following three key topics in technical presentations, roundtable discussions, and expert panels: 🔹 Digital sovereignty – how companies can gain more control over technologies, data, and platforms. 🔹 Logistics & Regulation – how digital solutions help efficiently meet increasing regulatory requirements. 🔹 Commercial Open Source – what potential, business models, and opportunities for innovation arise from collaboratively developed open-source software. The focus was on how open software solutions can help improve processes, establish standards, and jointly advance the digitalization of the logistics industry. It became clear that the challenges of digital transformation in the commodities sector can be most effectively addressed through collaboration. DACHSER has been part of this journey from the very beginning: As a founding member of the Open Logistics Foundation in 2021, we are committed to developing open standards and shared solutions for commodity applications in logistics. The initiative’s strong growth is particularly encouraging: The community has now expanded from four to 54 member companies. We would like to thank everyone involved for the inspiring exchange and look forward to continuing to shape the future of logistics together and openly. #DACHSER #OpenSource #OpenLogisticsFoundation #Innovation #DigitalTransformation
