SAP is tightening the rules for data access with its new API Policy v4/2026. Large-scale data extraction via standard APIs will be subject to stricter regulation in future. This aligns with SAP’s Clean Core Strategy: fewer uncontrolled interfaces, more standardization and improved maintainability of ERP systems. For many BI, analytics and AI use cases, this raises an important question: how should future-proof SAP data integration be designed? One key point: RFC remains a stable, native access path for large data volumes, especially for data lake, reporting and AI architectures outside the SAP core.
