Big news this week: Italy has joined France, Spain, Hungary and Denmark in opposing any revision of the EU #WaterFrameworkDirective. Together, these countries now form a blocking minority against any proposal by the European Commission to reopen the Directive. Improving the health of Europe's rivers, lakes and aquifers is more important than ever. Protecting the WFD is essential to achieving that objective. Yet this is not a view shared by everyone.
