More than 20 phage therapy clinical trials were underway in 2025. The question is no longer whether bacteriophages are therapeutically interesting. It's whether they can be manufactured consistently enough to reach more patients. That's the challenge being explored through PHOENIX – a collaboration between Biofactory Competence Center, CRISP - Centre de recherche et d’innovation en sciences pharmaceutiques cliniques CHUV and Cytiva, focused on developing scalable purification approaches for therapeutic bacteriophages. In this video, an ÄKTA flux s arrives at BCC, where it will support tangential flow filtration (TFF) steps within the project. It's an exciting example of academia, healthcare and industry working together to tackle some very real process development challenges.
