Major milestone – cylib officially receives a €26.1 million non-dilutive grant to revolutionise European battery recycling! We are delighted to announce that we have officially received €26.1 million in funding from the European Union under the EFRE/JTF in NRW programme to build our industrial-scale facility at CHEMPARK Dormagen. This grant agreement is a game-changer for battery recycling in Europe. Our OLiC (Optimised Lithium & Graphite Recovery) technology recovers over 90% of critical materials – lithium, graphite, cobalt, nickel, and manganese – from end-of-life EV batteries, whilst producing 80% lower carbon emissions than mining. At full build-out stage, the facility, scheduled to begin operations in 2027, will process up to 140,000 electric vehicle batteries annually. With every fourth new car sold globally now being electric, Europe desperately needs this kind of circular solution to reduce dependence on mining and strengthen supply chain resilience. "We are deeply grateful to the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and the European Union for funding this project and supporting our mission to produce advanced materials for sustainable batteries and resilient European value chains," says Dr Lilian Schwich, co-founder and co-CEO. "This validates our superior technology and advanced engineering capabilities, whilst recognising our team's achievements to date." "This grant enables us to scale our proven technology from pilot to industrial reality," adds co-founder and co-CEO Dr Gideon Schwich. "We're establishing the blueprint for Europe's battery recycling future." From our Aachen pilot line to full industrial implementation in Dormagen – this is how we're building Europe's circular battery economy! ♻️ 👉 Full press release in the comments below.
