𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐝++ 𝐅𝐥𝐚𝐰 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐚, 𝐔𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐈𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐞𝐝 A newly discovered vulnerability in Notepad++ is raising concerns across the cybersecurity community. Tracked as CVE-2026-3008, the flaw allows attackers to crash the application or potentially access sensitive memory data. The issue stems from improper input validation in the nativeLang.xml configuration file, leading to a format string vulnerability. If exploited, attackers can trigger application crashes or extract memory contents, including sensitive system data. The exploit can be activated during routine search operations once a malicious configuration file is introduced. The Cyber Security Agency of Singapore has issued an advisory urging users to upgrade immediately to version 8.9.4, where the vulnerability has been fixed.
