A message from Cumberland City Council Mayor Ola Hamed. Like everyone across Sydney, I was deeply shocked and horrified by the Bondi terrorist attacks. It is beyond comprehension that we should see this act of terrorism on our soil. Cumberland stands with the Jewish community, and we send our love and support to everyone impacted by these cowardly acts. I have reached out to Waverley Mayor Will Nemesh to express my solidarity and heartfelt thoughts. Antisemitism is unacceptable. We must come together and act with kindness and compassion towards one another. I would like to express gratitude to the remarkable people who displayed such extraordinary bravery in Bondi yesterday, from first responders to members of the community. It’s important that we reflect on our responsibility as a community to demonstrate behaviour that promotes social cohesion and unites us. We cannot let this horrendous action divide us. Ola Hamed
