Parkinson’s disease is one of the most prevalent neurodegenerative diseases in Europe and its burden continues to grow alongside ageing populations. Yet when you look at the clinical trial landscape, the picture becomes more nuanced. As shown in the chart, trial activity appears to be relatively concentrated around a limited number of investigational products - with a strong presence of well-established therapies like levodopa, and fewer emerging agents appearing repeatedly across studies. This raises an important question: 👉 are we seeing enough diversification in the pipeline relative to the scale of the disease? Clinical research in Parkinson’s is clearly active - but the structure of that activity may matter just as much as its volume. Because for patients, access isn’t just about whether trials exist - but what kinds of options they actually offer. Part of a broader dataset we’ve been analysing across Europe. 🌍 We are CTIN → Clinical Trials Information Network 𝐖𝐞 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞’𝐬 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 🔍 Follow for clinical research market insights 🤝 Share to support our mission #ParkinsonsDisease #ClinicalTrials #DrugDevelopment Leslie Michelle Dowling Wendy Erler Tiffany Bratts-Maiga Jen Horonjeff, PhD Lindsay Hughes EVA pharma Arvinas UZ Leuven Universitair Medisch Centrum Groningen Bial AC Immune Prevail Therapeutics
