A new national framework to help safeguard the effectiveness of antimicrobials. 🦠 Antimicrobial resistance is one of the most pressing challenges facing global health. It affects humans, animals and the systems we rely on for food production. To help address this, we worked with veterinarians and animal managers to co-design the Animal Antimicrobial Stewardship Framework. The framework is a practical, nationally consistent approach to support Australia’s animal industries. It helps organisations document, assess and strengthen their day-to-day stewardship practices in real-world settings. The research was supported by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry and Australian Pork Limited.
