Most people think that traffic management means traffic lights. In reality, modern cities face a much bigger challenge: making different transport systems work together to support better decisions, prioritise public transport and emergency vehicles, and provide reliable information for travellers. Recently, we have been working on one of the most comprehensive urban mobility projects in Porto. This is not a pilot project. This is not a standalone system. It is a citywide implementation bringing together multiple technologies within a single operational environment. What does that mean in practice? ➖ More than 280 CROSS RS 4S traffic light controllers connected to the eDaptiva adaptive traffic control centre ➖ Real-time traffic management with priority for public transport and emergency vehicles ➖ C-ITS V2X communication between vehicles and intersections using roadside units (RSUs) and on-board units (OBUs) ➖ 41 variable message signs displaying current journey times and other mobility information from multiple data sources ➖ Automated access control to the historic city centre using ANPR, retractable bollards, RFID and QR authorisation ➖ The Invipo platform integrating traffic management, mobility data, access management and public information None of these technologies is new on its own. The real challenge lies in integrating them into a single operational platform that supports traffic management, public transport priority, access control and traveller information across the city. We are proud to have delivered this project alongside our trusted partner, SOLTRÁFEGO, SA. Porto is Soltráfego's home city, making this project particularly special for the entire team. #SmartMobility #TrafficManagement #SmartCity #ITS #UrbanMobility #CITS #Soltrafego #CrossZlin
