Sangria doesn’t have a demand problem. It has an preparation problem. Everyone likes the idea, but very few people actually make it. Too much hassle. Too much guesswork. Too many steps before you even get started. Shopper in retail don’t come in looking for ingredients, but they come in with a moment in mind. And if that moment isn’t easy to prepare, they move on. There's is a clear shift from product to occasion, from “what do I need?” to “what can I make right now?”. The brands and retailers that win aren’t the ones adding more SKUs.
