My latest article for CargoForwarder Global looks at MacroCarbon's attempt to produce SAF from marine biomass. The company is currently running a proof of concept with Airbus, Iberia, and repsol, while targeting production costs of around €1,000 per tonne. Vueling Airlines will test SAF blends in a laboratory-scale aircraft engine in Barcelona. The bigger question may not be technology.
