Spain has just beaten France to reach the World Cup Final!! And I think the biggest lesson has nothing to do with football. On paper, other national teams may have bigger stars, bigger reputations, and more individual talent. But Spain has built something that’s much harder to create: A team. You don’t see players blaming each other. You don’t see egos competing for the spotlight. You don’t see individuals trying to win the game on their own. Everyone understands their role. Everyone trusts the person next to them. Everyone is working towards the same objective. Luis de la Fuente recently shared a thought that really stuck with me. He said that many teams only watch the ball. The best teams don’t. They’re constantly reading the spaces, anticipating movements, covering for one another, and understanding what’s happening away from the ball. That idea extends far beyond football. In business, most organisations spend all their time chasing “the ball”: * This quarter’s revenue. * The biggest customer. * The next deal. * The latest KPI. But the best companies pay attention to everything else. Who’s supporting the team behind the scenes? Who’s creating space for others to succeed? Who’s solving tomorrow’s problems before they become today’s emergencies? Great organisations aren’t built by collecting the brightest individuals. They’re built by aligning talented people around a shared vision, giving everyone clarity on their role, and creating an environment where the team always comes before the individual. Because stars might win matches. But teams win championships. #Leadership #Teamwork #HighPerformance #WinningCulture
