🎉 The ECAIL study protocol is published! 👉 This marks a new chapter in a decade-long scientific and human journey led by the OPPaLE team at CRESS UMR 1153 & INSERM and the Programme Malin, together with its incredible partners and stakeholders: • The French Society of Pediatrics (Société Française de Pédiatrie) • The French Association for Ambulatory Pediatrics (AFPA - Association Française de Pédiatrie Ambulatoire) • The French Red Cross (Croix-Rouge française) Malin is both a multi-behavioral parental support and a poverty-prevention program, already reaching 150,000 young children and their families facing social vulnerability across France during the crucial first 1,000 days. It provides: • Practical advice and tips to support breastfeeding, encourage healthier eating, and promote more active lifestyles. • Non-stigmatizing financial support to help families access nutritious food and essential kitchen utensils at lower cost. Since 2017, and with the invaluable help of healthcare professionals from Lille University Hospital (CHU de Lille) and Valenciennes Hospital, over 600 pregnant women facing social disadvantage have joined the ECAIL randomized controlled trial, in which families are followed until the child’s second birthday to assess the program’s effectiveness. The study will conclude in 2026! 🙏 A warm thank you to all partners, researchers, and families involved in this action research — and to our funders for their ongoing support: IReSP - Institut pour la Recherche en Santé Publique, ANR, the French National Research Agency, the AXA Research Fund (Fonds AXA pour le Progrès Humain), and the Pacte des solidarités.
