🛰️ PIAST satellites over Chernobyl ☢️ A place that changed history 40 years ago is now being monitored from orbit. The Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant was captured by two different #PIAST satellites: PIAST-M, equipped with a telescope developed by Centrum Badań Kosmicznych Polskiej Akademii Nauk, and PIAST-S2, equipped with a telescope developed by Scanway S.A. Both satellites are based on #HyperSat satellite platforms designed and manufactured in Poland by Creotech Instruments S.A. The entire image processing workflow from Payload Processors, through calibration and validation tools, to the Payload Data Ground Segment was developed and carried out by the team at #Creotech Instruments. This includes the definition and full implementation of the processing and calibration chain up to Level 1A, enabling the generation of products ready for operational use. End-to-end Polish technology. The #PIAST project is an example of effective cooperation between Polish science and industry. It is carried out by the Wojskowa Akademia Techniczna w Warszawie (Military University of Technology in Warsaw), acting as the consortium leader, in collaboration with Creotech Instruments S.A., the Space Research Centre of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Łukasiewicz - ILOT, Scanway S.A. and PCO S.A. The project is co-financed by the Narodowe Centrum Badań i Rozwoju under the #SZAFIR programme, initiated by the Ministry of National Defence.
