Jodie Turner-Smith, is a living proof that courage to pivot can change everything. Born on September 7, 1986, in Peterborough, England, to Jamaican parents, Jodie spent part of her childhood in the United Kingdom before moving to Maryland in the United States following her parents' divorce. She studied finance at the University of Pittsburgh and, after graduating in 2008, began a career in banking, a path far removed from the bright lights of Hollywood. But destiny had other plans. Encouraged by music icon Pharrell Williams to pursue modeling, Jodie made the bold decision to follow her creative instincts. That leap of faith eventually led her into acting, where she steadily built a career through roles in True Blood, The Last Ship, and Nightflyers. Her breakthrough came in 2019 with the critically acclaimed film Queen & Slim, where her powerful performance alongside Daniel Kaluuya announced her arrival as one of Hollywood's most compelling talents.
