David Mboussou is a Franco-Gabonese filmmaker, writer, and producer whose work centers African culture, heritage, and spirituality. His debut feature film, Afrotopia, released in Gabon in November 2025, follows a young videographer confronting his father’s plan to exploit a sacred forest. A story that weaves together colonial memory, ecology, and indigenous knowledge. Shot entirely in Gabon with a fully local crew and cast, the film sold out its premiere screenings at the Institut Français du Gabon. It has since been shown internationally, including at the International Black Theater Summit in Ghana. Before Afrotopia, David built his career directing music videos for Gabonese artists and producing culturally rooted brand films, including the launch campaign for the clothing label Only Made in Gabon.
