In our newest CR2C2 research video, researchers from the The University of Alabama (Alabama Transportation Institute), Florida Atlantic University, and the University of Kentucky explore how Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAVs) can help reduce crashes, improve roadway safety, and guide smarter investments in rural communities. Led by Dr. Jun Liu of the University of Alabama, the project used crash analysis, simulation modeling, and cost-benefit evaluation to identify technologies with the potential to save lives and improve mobility where it matters most. We are especially grateful for the contributions of Dr. Jun Liu, whose leadership and research helped shape this work. We dedicate this video to his memory and in recognition of his lasting impact on transportation research and the many students and colleagues he inspired. Thank you to Dr. Steven Jones, Dr. Evangelos I. Kaisar, Dr. Reginald Souleyrette, and the entire project team for their leadership and contributions to this important research. We also appreciate the support and collaboration of project stakeholder Jason Siwula from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (DBE). Special recognition goes to student researchers Ningzhe Xu and Javier Pena-Bastidas for their hard work and valuable contributions that helped make this project possible. ๐ฅ Watch the full video: https://lnkd.in/giGqZzrx Learn more about the project: https://lnkd.in/gcfuu8-F #TransportationResearch #RuralMobility #ConnectedVehicles #AutomatedVehicles #RoadSafety #TransportationInnovation #CR2C2 Christina D.
