More than infrastructure: shaping Linnéplatsen 🙋 🙋‍♀️ The Lindholmen Connection will reshape Gothenburg’s cityscape – especially at Linnéplatsen where a new tram tunnel will emerge. Now, the question is: How can we turn this into an opportunity to elevate the entire area? As a key transportation hub and the gateway to Slottsskogen, Linnéplatsen is being reimagined to become safer, more accessible and more attractive. COWI has contributed to this with a data-driven analysis of traffic flows. And Arkitema has conducted a social impact analysis, gathering input from diverse groups – from students to families and accessibility advocates – on how they want to experience and use the space. Balancing safety, functionality and vibrancy is no small task. “There are many distinct interests in a city, and one challenge can be that these conflict. For some, safety means calm and quiet while for others it means life and activity. So, it is an exciting process to see how different interests can meet”, says Malin Croner, Landscape Architect at Arkitema, who has worked with COWI on shaping the future appearance of Linnéplatsen. The Lindholmen Connection is managed by the Land Development Department at the City of Gothenburg.
