Major step towards #CircularEconomy ♻️ We're excited to announce our collaboration with Fraunhofer UMSICHT on a groundbreaking smart pyrolysis pilot plant for polyurethane rigid foam. This agreement marks a significant milestone in scaling up the technology to convert insulation waste from appliance and construction into high-purity re-aniline for the production of MDI. From 2028, the facility will recycle 2kt of polyurethane rigid foam waste annually. The result: MDI meeting the same purity standards as conventional MDI with up to 40% lower carbon footprint compared to conventional fossil-based production routes. Once again, this proves: partnerships are key to advancing circular solutions. By combining our chemical and technical expertise with Fraunhofer's process engineering capabilities and assets, we are scaling a technology that could fundamentally change how raw materials for MDI production are sourced.
