No Talhão 4 da Fazenda Sucupira, uma área que começou com foco em silvicultura nativa agora passa por uma nova fase produtiva. Depois de mais de dez anos de desenvolvimento, o desbaste abriu espaço para o plantio de café, juçara e pimenta-do-reino, aproveitando a estrutura já formada pelas madeireiras. Espécies como o jacarandá-da-Bahia seguem compondo o dossel e criando ambiente para novas culturas entrarem no sistema. Originally established for native tree silviculture, the area is now entering a new production phase. After more than a decade of growth, thinning has opened space for coffee, juçara palm, and black pepper, making use of the forest structure created by the timber trees. Native species such as Brazilian rosewood (Dalbergia nigra) continue to shape the canopy, creating the conditions needed for new crops to establish. Once degraded pasture, this plot developed into a thriving forest and is now being diversified with commercial crops, expanding both its productivity and long-term value.
