In #rail, the conversation around predictive maintenance needs to start with the foundations: data, trust, and an understanding on how far organisations are prepared to act on both. In a recent episode of the Railway Transportation System (RTS) podcast, Rahiman Shaik speaks with Scott McGowan, CEO of COSOL, about the practical realities of moving from preventative to predictive asset management in safety-critical environments. Scott brings a grounded perspective shaped by decades of experience in asset-centric industries, where reliability, compliance, and safety are non-negotiable. He shares: “Without failure information, it’s very hard to learn. If you think about predictive asset management, without that failure data and understanding the root cause, it’s very difficult to move from a costly preventative strategy to a predictive strategy.” It’s a challenge many rail organisations are actively working through: how to build enough confidence in data to support better decisions, without compromising safety or operational integrity. “I think it all comes down to trust. What we’re seeing now is we’re probably level one of ten in terms of making sure we’ve just got the right #data in a timely manner.” Learn what we are doing in this space here: https://lnkd.in/gTRg3vWh Listen to the full interview (link in comments).
