🇩🇪 Ich verschließe die Augen vor dem Leid auf dieser Welt – mehr, als mir lieb ist. Ganz wegschauen kann ich aber nicht. Also habe ich aufgeschrieben, was mich umtreibt. „Radikal Normal” ist eine kurze, zweisprachige Essayreihe über extreme Ungleichheit und die Frage, welche Verantwortung wir alle dafür tragen. Ich habe das als Laie geschrieben, nicht als Experte. Denn die Fakten liegen für alle offen – und es braucht nicht viel, um sich ein Bild davon zu machen, was gerade passiert. In sieben Beiträgen geht es um die zerstörerischen Folgen von extremer Armut und extremem Reichtum, um zweitausend Jahre Denken über Gerechtigkeit von Platon bis Ingrid Robeyns, um ein radikal einfaches Gedankenexperiment – das „10x-Prinzip” – und um die Frage, ob eine gerechtere Welt nicht nur wünschenswert, sondern machbar ist. I wrote this as a layman, not an expert. Because the facts are out there for everyone — and it doesn’t take much to put together a picture of what’s going on. Across seven pieces, I look at the destructive effects of extreme poverty and extreme wealth, trace two thousand years of thinking about justice from Plato to Ingrid Robeyns, lay out a radically simple thought experiment — the “10x principle” — and ask whether a fairer world is not just desirable but achievable. I have no illusions that my thinking will suddenly change the world. But maybe many of you will. At the very least, I want to be honest — first of all, with myself.
