Cork Chamber CEO Conor Healy spoke to Cork's 96fm & C103 this morning about the ongoing disruption to business as a result of this week's fuel protests. Concerns regarding the rising cost of doing business and the increase in energy costs due to the current geopolitical environment are a key priority for Cork's business community. Cork Chamber engages consistently with government and other key stakeholders to advocate for measures to mitigate this increased cost burden on businesses, particularly SMEs. However, the current blockades of roads and key facilities have resulted in unprecedented disruption to business operations, staff movements, trade flows and the mobility of the general public, and must come to an end as soon as possible. Any prolonged period of disruption will have a considerable impact on the Irish economy and society as a whole. It is critical that discussions planned for later today between the representative bodies and government are productive and solutions-focused.
