Mark became homeless at 19 and ended up living in a broken-down car. He has epilepsy. There were rats under the bonnet. Strangers tried to drag him out. In winter, he woke to ice on the inside of the windscreen. Through all of that, Mark never appeared in any official homelessness statistics. He wasn't in emergency accommodation. He wasn't recorded sleeping on the streets. Though sleeping in a car falls within accepted understandings of rooflessness, he was never recorded by the systems that shape how Ireland measures, and responds to, homelessness. And nobody knows how many others there are like him. Mark's story is at the heart of our new research report, Housing Counts. https://lnkd.in/dFHkpGTZ #CorkSimon #HousingCounts #BelieveInPeople
