At the airport reflecting on an incredible couple of weeks in Germany. I’m filled with gratitude for my hosts Jan Riewenherm, Friedemann Lell, Martin Reisacher, and Markus Baeumler. And also for the opportunity to learn from the above as well as brilliant colleagues like Olaf Elstermeyer, Martin Blanke, Tran Khang Do, Hashan Wijesundara, Michael Slusarek, Hannes Ebbers, Christian Tenbrock, Thomas Bach, Franz Wasserman, Christin Böning, Fabian Sauter, Naman Bansal, and Christian Kledwig. (Roughly in chronological order). I’m going to feel terrible for anyone I missed, but the last two weeks have been a whirlwind and I apologize in advance. Of course, a huge thanks to my collleague and travel companion Brendan Knapp. In Bielefeld, the Lasertec 30 SLM 3rd Gen is truly a marvel. The level of detail that has gone into reevaluating EVERY design choice from the ground up is astounding. The gas flow, powder management, and process workflow are more revolutionary than evolutionary. Most impressive are the test beds that empirically confirm every idea with more than a year of testing. From the sales side, it’s incredibly reassuring to see the claims we put into marketing slides backed up by hard data and robust engineering. In Pfronten, the Lasertec 65 DED Hybrid and 125 DED Hybrid developments aren’t slowing down either. The new multi-jet nozzle is a game-changer for accessibility, stability, and capture-efficiency, the blue laser requires rapid parameter development, the move to Siemens Sinumerik One and CELOS X promises many new performance enhancements (as well as fully-digital training and simulation capability), and the advanced monitoring systems of AM Assistant, AM Analyzer, and AM Evaluator are constantly being improved for ease-of-use, accuracy, and reportability. Perhaps a little off-topic as a specialist in metal additive, but the traditional manufacturing prowess of both facilities can’t be understated. From what I’ve seen, German industry deserves its reputation for excellence. And at both facilities I’ve learned of many projects on the immediate horizon that I can’t share yet. Exciting innovations, debuts, releases. There are a ton of reasons to be excited about the future of DMG MORI Additive. Thanks again to this tremendous team, for your hospitality and your impressive technical competence and willingness to share it with us. Tschuss! DMG MORI DMG MORI Additive GmbH DMG MORI USA
